Antique Chippendale style ladies writing table desk imported from England and dating back to C.xxxx.
This beautiful old desk features oriental style hand carving to the front of the drawers and stands on slender cabriolet legs terminating in ball and claw feet.
There is a small mirror on the back with small drawers on each side which are topped with an intricate brass gallery.
All of the drawers retain their original decorative brass handles. There are locks to the desk drawers but, as is the case with many older pieces, the key is no longer present.
There is minor wear throughout and some splitting to the very top above the mirror. There is also some silver loss to the mirror and the leather top is probably a later replacement. All of this is shown in the pictures and as you can see it does not take away from the elegance and beauty of the piece.
This truly is a quality piece which is constructed from solid mahogany and is very heavy. It has developed a wonderful deep red patina and is in solid sturdy condition with minor age appropriate flaws.
